The acquisition of relevant practical management skills, tailored to the needs of the international banking and finance industry, lies at the core of the internationally focused, English-language International Banking and Finance master degree programme. Career parallel lecturers from leading international banking and financial institutions and the UAS BFI Vienna’s highly qualified full-time lecturers pass on their expert knowledge to students and encourage in-depth discussions.

The international nature of the programme and the resulting professional exchange lay the foundations of the academic education of highly qualified graduates with international mindsets.

As a graduate you will be able to:

Apply methods and ideas in customer and product management, treasury, cost accounting, controlling, liquidity and risk management at master’s level
Analyse the connections and effects of central banking processes, plan measures to steer these processes, and implement them in an international environment
Identify and analyse key topics of bank management in order to infer context-specific recommendations and measures
Realise ideas and methods of modern management theories (Corporate Social Responsibility, Systemic Organisation Development, Collaboration, Change and Innovation Management) and apply them appropriately
Collaborate in implementation and research projects in banking and finance

Completion of a bachelor degree in business studies in Austria or equivalent degree abroad (The legalization list can be found here.)
For this degree programmes you require English CEFR-competence level C1. German language competence is not necessary for this programme.

After successful completion of the module, students can explain the margin calculation and contributions schemes of banks. Furthermore, they are able to apply methods of cost and client accounting approaches for different bank cases. The participants learn methodologies like process cost calculation and apply these for the unit cost calculation of banking products. They know the principles of funds transfer pricing (FTP) and can use it for spread calculation and pricing of loans and deposits.
The students are able to explain the problems and mechanism of special bank budgeting processes. They are able to outline and discuss long term strategic plans of banks and annual operative planning of Profit & Loss statements and bank balance sheets. They can set up a strategic plan based on actual annual reports of banks and set up a simple reporting system.

After this course, students can identify the significance and impact of social, economic and ecological sustainability and ethical behaviour on banking and finance in practice from an international perspective. They are able to explain implications of sustainability and ethics on the companies' reputation and economic results. This means that students have the capacity to describe the impact of fulfilling sustainability criteria on the company’s performance and analyse the potential risks associated with a lack of well-defined sustainability criteria. The students are able to analyse challenges in organisational sustainability and ethic management and apply appropriate methods of management to advance these areas of action. This includes the capacity to describe different forms of assessment methods. The students gain competencies in the integration of the perspectives of sustainability and ethics into their daily work, and in the communication of these perspectives to others within an international context.
